I found a password hint that just says a dot (.) on my deceased sibling's Windows PC. I'm wondering if this means the password includes a dot or if there's another reason for it. Does anyone have ideas about what a single dot could signify as a hint?

It seems like your sibling may not have wanted to give away any clues, so they just put a dot in the hint field. It's pretty common for people not to want to reveal their passwords with hints. Sorry for your loss!
If it's a local account, you might have options to reset the password without needing the hint. But definitely tread carefully and consider professional help if you’re not sure. Again, sorry for your loss!
I’m really sorry for your loss. It seems likely that your sibling was confident they'd remember their password, so they might have just put a dot so the hint field wasn’t empty. It's a bit of a dead end for hints, unfortunately.
When setting up the password, a hint is required, and it looks like your sibling just went with a dot as a placeholder. Unfortunately, that doesn't help much if you're trying to figure out the password. You might need to consult a pro or think about getting the password reset. Condolences!
Thanks, GadgetGuru7. I appreciate the insights! Any tips on how to approach a professional about this?
Thanks for the info, FileFixer88! I’ll look into local account options.
