Is It Time to Upgrade My PC Specs?

Hey everyone! I have a Ryzen 7 7700x paired with an RX7800xt and I'm wondering if I should upgrade my PC now or hold off for a few more years until newer components come out. I also have 64GB of DDR5 RAM and I'm using a 1440p monitor, but I'm struggling to hit 165 FPS like I'd like. Any advice on whether I should upgrade, and if so, what parts should I consider? Thanks for your insights!

If you’re looking for an upgrade, definitely consider getting an OLED display. It’s been the best upgrade I've made in years! The visuals are just next level, and it could really enhance your gaming experience.

I'd recommend against upgrading right now. Your current setup is pretty solid, but if you're not hitting the performance you want, maybe just upgrade the GPU. That might give you the boost you need without going all out.

You’re in a similar boat to many of us. Benchmarks show the 7700x is comparable to higher-end CPUs like the 12000KF. If you’re struggling to get over 100 FPS in some unoptimized games, it might not be worth upgrading just yet. Can you manage to play comfortably with your current FPS for the next couple of years? If yes, then hold off.

Given your specs, I’d suggest waiting a bit longer. AMD’s previous generation did well, and they might have an even better release next time. It's hard to say if they’ll switch architectures, but it might be worth seeing what’s coming.

It sounds like your specs aren't quite cutting it for you, especially since you mentioned not hitting 165 FPS consistently. If you're keen on boosting performance, consider upgrading your GPU. There are some solid options like the RX9070 or RTX5070ti out there.

If you’re after better gaming performance, it could be a good time to consider an upgrade. The GPU market isn’t what it used to be, but you might find a decent upgrade at a fair price. I got my 9070XT for $750, which feels about right for a solid boost. Your CPU is fine, but if you want to upgrade to an x3d chip, expect only about a 10 FPS gain.
