Struggling with Dual Booting Windows 11 and Linux Mint

I'm trying to set up a dual boot with Windows 11 and Linux Mint just to try Linux out. I've heard issues about Windows deleting Linux during updates, so I wanted to set it up carefully. I followed a tutorial on YouTube where the guy suggested removing the boot manager, installing Linux, and then putting the boot manager back on the partition. However, I ran into problems when I tried to enter `os-prober` and it didn't return anything. After getting frustrated, I decided to check on another PC. But when I tried to boot back into Windows, I got stuck at an infinite loading screen after changing the boot order in the BIOS. Now, I can only use Linux. ChatGPT gave me some commands that resulted in errors. Any advice?

Oh man, I feel your pain. I had a similar issue with my Windows drive getting locked by BitLocker. Once you unlock it, Windows could still be stuck in automatic repair mode. If you manage to get into Windows again, be careful with the boot sequence adjustments. And, hey, if your files are still there, maybe consider grabbing a bigger USB stick to back everything up before trying anything else.

Dual booting can be tricky, especially if you're not fully confident with the process. It's good you're using Mint, but remember, Windows doesn't always play nice with a new partition. Important first step: do you have a backup? Seriously, before you do anything else, make sure you back up your important files. You might even want to have a USB ready to reinstall Windows if it all goes sideways. Forget the advice from ChatGPT for now—your data is the priority!

Have you tried using `dislocker` on Linux? It's a handy tool for accessing BitLocker encrypted drives. I used it before, and it helped me recover files. And trust me, this is the moment backups become incredibly valuable—just saying!
