Should I Upgrade My GPU or Move to AM5 for Gaming?

I'm currently using an R5 3600 with a 5700XT GPU and I'm looking to upgrade my PC to enhance my gaming experience, especially for titles like BF6. I've got about €400 to spend, but I'm not sure if I should invest in a new graphics card or switch to the AM5 platform. The price for the R7 7700X3D is around €400, but I'm concerned about the total cost since I'd also need a new motherboard and RAM if I go that route. What's the best way to improve my system without breaking the bank?

If you're set on moving to AM5, keep in mind that it involves not just the CPU but a whole new motherboard and RAM too. The best option for AM4 right now is the 5800X3D, but it can be hard to find at a reasonable price. If you choose to upgrade your GPU, the 7800XT could be a good fit within your budget if you shop around.

Consider selling your current CPU and GPU—if you list them at reasonable prices, you might get enough to upgrade to a 5800XT and a RX 9060 XT 16GB. Just be sure to update your motherboard BIOS with the 3600 in place while you still have it—even a small sale could give you the extra funds you need.

I used to have a 5600XT paired with my 3600 and found an upgrade to a 5060 Ti 16GB worked wonders for me. I also bumped my RAM to 32GB, and it made a big difference. You don’t need to ditch your 3600 just yet; it can still hold up for gaming. Just make sure to check for the right GPU that fits your budget.

Honestly, if your budget is tight, you might want to focus on upgrading your GPU first. Check your GPU usage while playing. If it’s below 100%, it might be time for a new card. Investing in something like the RX 9060 XT 16GB could give you a noticeable boost. If you're maxing out your GPU, then consider going for AM5 instead.

BF6 really pushes hardware requirements, but if you're getting decent FPS now, you might hold off a bit. I’m running an old setup and still getting around 70fps on high settings. If you can wait for AM5 prices to drop, it might be worth it. In the meantime, consider picking up a used GPU to tide you over without making a huge investment now.
