Hey everyone! I'm building a new computer and I've picked up three SSDs: Samsung 870 EVO 1TB, Lexar 1TB NM790, and Samsung 990 EVO Plus 1TB. I'm trying to figure out where to install Windows for the best long-term performance and durability. Any thoughts on which one would last the longest and why? Thanks!

What’s with buying three different drives? If you were trying to save some tea, a single 2TB would have worked! But seriously, put Windows on one of the NVMe drives since they’re both quite reliable and fast. Can’t go wrong!
I’d recommend installing Windows on the Samsung 990 EVO Plus. It’s an NVMe drive, which means it’s faster and generally has better longevity compared to the SATA drives. NVMe tech is superior for performance, and with proper cooling, it should last quite a while!
FWIW, I had an 870 EVO that failed on me before, so I'd be cautious about that model. Just a thought! It really comes down to using one of the NVMe drives for your Windows installation, they’re solid choices.
I always go for the fastest SSD available when installing Windows; for me, that’s the 990 EVO Plus! It’s super fast, and with how things are headed toward NVMe, you won't have to worry about obsolescence. But all of them are good options if you're just after basic functionality.
Honestly, any of these drives should work fine! If they don’t fail, the longevity of Windows isn’t really about the drive itself. But I'd put Windows on either of the NVMe SSDs since they're more future-proof. A SATA SSD like the 870 EVO feels a bit outdated for a new build, don’t you think?

You make a good point about speed. It's also worth mentioning that the 870 EVO is known for lasting a long time in many setups, so it might not be a bad choice either if cooling's an issue.
