What PSU wattage should I choose for my new PC build?

Hey everyone! I'm gearing up to build a new PC and I've got all my parts lined up. My challenge now is figuring out the right power supply unit (PSU) wattage. PCPartPicker suggests I need around 661W. I'm leaning towards an 850W PSU, but then I came across a video that advised going for a PSU that's 1.5 times the wattage needed. So, should I aim for something around 1000W instead? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this! Thanks!

I think going with an 850W PSU should be just fine since it gives you some headroom. But if you want to be extra safe, especially for future upgrades, a 1000W PSU wouldn't hurt at all. Just make sure it’s from a reputable brand for reliability!

Thanks for the advice! I’ll consider sticking with the 850W for now and see how it goes.

I’d suggest checking out the ASRock Phantom Gaming PSU. It has useful features like temp sensors and auto shutoffs to prevent connector issues, which can be really handy. And hey, you might want to look at RAM prices too; there are definitely cheaper options for 64GB out there compared to what you're looking at now!

I’ll definitely consider the ASRock PSU! As for RAM, I’m hoping to snag a deal around Black Friday. Thanks for the tip!
