Help! My USB Ports Aren’t Working Anymore

I'm using an ASUS Vivobook S 14 for school, and recently I've run into a pretty frustrating issue. About a week ago, one of my USB ports stopped working. I was managing because I still had another port to use for my mouse and tablet, but today that other port seems to be acting up too. I tried using my wireless mouse, but it wouldn't turn on. I checked the Device Manager and saw the driver had a yellow exclamation mark, so I uninstalled it and restarted my computer multiple times, but nothing's changed. I really need my mouse since I can't stand using the touchpad! I even borrowed a mouse from a friend, and it worked fine on their computers, so it doesn't seem to be an issue with the mouse itself. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

You might want to check the Device Manager for error codes related to your USB ports. Right-click on the device and go to properties to see if there are any issues reported. Sometimes, a USB device could stop working due to internal hardware problems, or it could be a software issue that can be fixed with a driver update. By the way, a Bluetooth mouse could also be a temporary solution if you have that option!

It sounds like with the error message you received, it might be a deeper issue. "Code 43" typically means that the device has problems internally. Since you also get a notification about a malfunction when plugging it in, it could suggest a hardware failure. If possible, try checking for any recent updates for your laptop's drivers or consider reaching out to ASUS for support.
