Hey everyone! I'm having a problem with my external SSD, which I'm using through an enclosure and USB connection. I had to force quit Steam during an update because my computer was lagging, and now my laptop doesn't recognize the SSD anymore. It keeps saying that I need to format the disk and that the volume doesn't have a recognized file system. I'm really concerned here because there's a lot of data on it that I don't want to lose. Any idea what might be going on? I've read that file corruption could be a reason. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Have you tried connecting the SSD directly to your computer instead of using the enclosure? Sometimes the enclosures can cause issues and connecting it directly could help determine if the SSD itself is the problem.
There are a couple of possible issues here. First, the USB enclosure might be faulty, or it could just be dead. The second possibility is that the SSD itself has failed. It's tough to say without more testing.
The enclosure’s power light does flash when it’s plugged in, which is a good sign. But I guess it could still have an internal issue. I’m really hoping the SSD isn’t damaged, especially since it's new. If it is the SSD, is there any chance I could recover the data?

Not yet. My laptop is new, so I’d worry about voiding the warranty if I open it up. Plus, I need to check if there's another slot for an SSD.
