Looking for a GPU with Lower TDP Than a 3080 but Similar Performance

I'm building a gaming PC, and while my current 3080 is performing well, it's also a power hog. I really want a graphics card that doesn't heat up my space and won't trip the fuses in my apartment when the A/C is running full blast. Are there any newer graphics cards that match the performance of the 3080 but have a lower thermal design power (TDP), especially in a similar price range for used options?

If you’re open to spending a bit more, the RX 9070 has a TDP of 220W and performs about 25% faster than the 3080. It can be undervolted significantly, down to as low as 154W without much performance loss. However, it's priced around $560, so if you're looking to stay within a similar bracket, you might need to compromise on some performance.

The 5060 Ti has slightly less power than the 3080, while the 5070 is a bit more powerful but draws less power. If you're looking for something budget-friendly, the 4070 could also be a good choice.

True, but the 5070 is a more powerful option and still sits within a good price range.

I’d recommend swapping your 3080 for a 5070 since it has a TDP of 250W and gives you performance close to what the 3090 offered. They cost around $500-$550, but you can grab a recertified one for about $480. It's worth noting that the -60 and -60 Ti cards have VRAM limitations, which can be an issue for newer games.

You could try just lowering the power limit on your existing 3080; it's a free way to reduce heat output. Check out some guides on undervolting in overclocking communities to help with that.
