Is the PS5 DualSense Controller Good for PC Gaming Now?

A couple of years ago, I tried using a PS5 DualSense controller with my PC, but it didn't work very well. Many games weren't compatible, and I ended up using a Series X controller instead. I'm really interested in the DualSense because of its awesome haptics and comfort, but I don't want to waste money if it's still a hassle to use. Has anyone experienced improvements in compatibility since then?

I ended up going with an 8BitDo controller, and it's been working perfectly for me. So, if you hit a wall with the DualSense, might be worth checking out alternatives!

Remember, Windows is designed with Xbox controllers in mind, so while Steam can get the PS5 controller working, a lot of games still don't support it natively. I've switched back to Xbox because it gets rid of the confusion with button prompts—seriously, developers just aren't motivated to support the DualSense yet, even though it is the superior controller.

I've had great results using DS4Windows instead of Steam. It's been really effective and makes the whole experience much smoother!

My DualSense has been working well with almost all games. Just press the PS button when your PC's on, and it connects instantly. The only bummer is that many games still show Xbox button prompts instead of the PlayStation ones, which can be annoying.

Sony has released a dedicated app for PC accessories now, which is pretty neat. If you're playing wired with the DualSense, it works like a charm, but I've had some connectivity issues using Bluetooth.

Steam has really stepped up with integrated support for PS controllers. Although it can still be tricky to get them to work with non-Steam games, I've noticed it’s improved a lot. My DualSense gives me prompts for Steam Input even in those other games, which is super helpful. I dropped DS4Windows a while back and haven’t faced issues since.

That's good to hear! I found that the remapping process has made things a lot smoother too. I might give it another shot with my PS controller.
