Hey everyone, I'm debating whether to purchase the RTX 5080 at its current price or hold out for the rumored RTX 5080 Super. From what I've gathered, the Super will likely just come with more VRAM (maybe 24 GB instead of 16 GB) without any significant upgrades to the chip itself. My goal is to have a future-proof setup for 4K gaming, ideally with most titles running on Ultra or High settings. I don't plan on changing GPUs for at least the next three years, so I'm uncertain if 16 GB will be enough for future AAA games. Some folks say 16 GB is okay for 4K right now, but others are worried it won't hold up in the long run. Should I snag the RTX 5080 now while there are good deals, or is it better to wait for the 5080 Super?

Honestly, just buy the 5080. You’ll always find newer models coming out and if you wait, you might end up missing out on good deals. Plus, with features like DLSS, you can stretch the performance of the 16 GB for a while at 4K.
I have a 5080, and it's great! You can run games at 4K, but don't expect stable 60 fps for everything on ultra. If you're fine with using DLSS, you should be good for a couple of years.
Sounds like you’re happy with your choice! I guess it really comes down to whether I can snag a deal on the 5080 before prices possibly go up for the Super.
If you're looking for true future-proofing at 4K, you might want to wait for the Super. Some games are already pushing past 16 GB of VRAM, so the extra memory could come in handy.
True, but we don't know when the Super will actually drop. If you're in a hurry, it could be smarter to go with the 5080 now instead of rolling the dice on release dates.
Honestly, a 5080 might suffice as long as you manage expectations. If you're gaming at 4K and want to push for ultra settings, though, waiting could be the better strategy since the Super may offer better memory options—and it might not take too long for it to come out.
Yeah, and who knows what the actual performance of the Super will be? If they're just bumping up VRAM, it might not be as earth-shattering as everyone hopes.
You can't truly future-proof for 4K gaming. The best route, if you want solid 4K performance, is to either go for the 5080 Super or even splurge on the 5090. But if you’re okay with some ups and downs in performance due to DLSS, the 5080 should still do the trick.
Exactly, the tech evolves so fast. If you can hold out for a year or so, the Super might be worth it if the pricing and availability work out.

That’s a solid perspective! If you're not obsessed with ultra settings all the time, the 5080 might serve you well for a few years.
