How Can I Factory Reset My Used Gaming PC That Won’t Reset Properly?

I recently bought a gaming PC for $700, but the previous owner didn't reset it before selling. I attempted to do a factory reset by using shift + restart, but I'm encountering problems with the process. I also tried running the 'sfc /scannow' command, which reported that it repaired files multiple times. However, when I executed the 'dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth' command, it ended up saying that the '/cleanup-image' option is unknown. Any suggestions on how to resolve this and successfully reset my PC?

Why not just do a fresh install from a USB drive? It's usually much easier and can fix a lot of underlying issues with the setup. Just make sure you back up any files you want to keep first!

Honestly, I doubt the error message was as vague as, 'I'm having a problem doing that.' It’s best to post the exact error messages if you want help, as it can really make a difference in the troubleshooting process.

They probably installed something like a rootkit to run games. While repairing it could be tricky, the simplest solution is to just install a fresh copy of the operating system. It’s better to deal with that than risk running into hidden problems later.
