I recently got my hands on a new 5080 FE graphics card, but I'm running into some trouble with the power supply cables. My system currently has a 3080 that uses two different split cables with 6+2 pin connectors, totaling three connectors for that GPU. However, I've heard that it's not recommended to use split cables for the 5080. My Thermaltake power supply only came with two split cables. Can anyone suggest what type of cables I should buy that will be compatible with the 5080 adapter that comes with the Founders Edition? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I really wouldn't recommend using split cables for the 5080 if you can avoid it. Using two cables with three connectors does carry a bit of risk—especially with regards to potential overheating. If you're struggling to find the specific Thermaltake 6+2 cables sold separately, you might want to check other brands or even consider getting a new PSU that comes with the necessary cables you need.
There's definitely added risk when using fewer cables than recommended, especially with high-power GPUs like the 5080. You could look into buying a set of proper cables designed for that graphics card model, or see if you can find a reputable aftermarket supplier that offers them individually.
The best practice is to use three completely separate cables to ensure power stability for your GPU. However, if you're only able to use two cables and can connect three connectors, that's usually okay too. Just make sure not to overload the cables, since that could lead to issues down the line.
