Hey everyone, I'm really stressed out about my MSI GV72 gaming laptop. I just returned from a trip and when I tried to log in, my password (which I double-checked) didn't work. Then the hashtag key started getting spammed out of nowhere. After that, I got a blue error screen that said it would restart, but it never did. Now, when I try to turn it on, the power button flashes blue for a bit, the keyboard lights up, but then everything goes dark again. The laptop has some issues: the front screen frame is missing (held by tape), the charger connection is iffy, and it's been dropped a few times over the years. Plus, I added new storage and RAM not too long ago. I really can't afford repairs or a new laptop, so I'd appreciate any advice! Thanks a lot!

Wow, that sounds really frustrating! Based on what you've described, there could be a couple of issues. It’s possible that something got loose from the drops, which could explain the power issues and the hashtag key spamming. You might want to check if the battery is removable and see if you can run it directly from the charger. Also, if you get another blue error screen, try to take a screenshot or a photo of it for more reference.
Sounds like a tricky situation! It could be a sign of a hardware failure, especially if the screen isn’t turning on at all. The spam issue could potentially be linked to a stuck key, but coupled with the flashing power light, it really seems like it's a power delivery issue. If it triggers another error screen, note down exactly what it says, it could help narrow things down in troubleshooting.
Yeah, definitely document any error messages. Any signs of physical damage on the motherboard could also be the culprit after being dropped.

I also wondered if the charger is the problem. If it's old and doesn't connect securely, it might not be supplying enough power. Definitely check all the connections, and maybe try a different charger if you can.
