Issues with Spot Instances Availability After AWS Outage?

Has anyone else noticed a shortage of available spot instances in the US East region following the recent AWS outage? Even when we manage to launch them, they seem to disappear almost immediately. Is this a widespread issue? I couldn't find any updates on AWS's status page regarding this.

We rely heavily on spot instances in the US East region too. Right after the outage, we switched to on-demand instances for a day to play it safe. However, since Tuesday evening, we've been back to using spot instances without any major problems. I didn't pay much attention to the reclaim timings, but our app restarts really quickly, so it hasn't been a big issue for us.

I appreciate that! We've also switched to on-demand temporarily, but those spot instances still seem to get claimed almost immediately after launching, sometimes within minutes.

Just a heads up, priority is given to on-demand instances. When everything goes down and restarts, the on-demand machines are serviced first. Only after that do they allocate the leftover instances to spot, so it makes sense if you're seeing issues after the outage.
