What GPU Should I Get for My New 4K Monitor?

I just upgraded to a Samsung G80SD 4K monitor from a 1440p setup, and I'm considering whether I should upgrade my GPU as well. Right now, I'm using an RTX 3080 12GB, which handles most games at 60+ fps on high settings. However, I feel like I'm not fully utilizing my monitor's capabilities, especially since it can reach up to 240Hz. My CPU is a 9800X3D, so I don't think it will bottleneck my GPU. What do you think?

Before jumping into the newest GPU, what's your budget? If you're aiming for something that can hit around 240fps, I'd suggest looking at something like the 5080.

Definitely consider that. You could also look into performance trade-offs, like using DLSS for a smoother experience.

The consensus seems to be that the 5090 is the way to go for 4K. It outperforms both the 4090 and the 5080, especially in demanding titles.

If money isn’t an issue, then why not go for the RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell? But honestly, do share your budget—it's tough to recommend without knowing how much you're willing to spend.

You might even look at modding options if you're into that. There are kits out there that can boost VRAM, though for 4K you might need even more power.

If you want to really maximize your 4K experience, you'd be looking at getting a 5090. It’s currently the best option for ultra settings at high frame rates.

You should also consider what games you're playing. Do you need a strict 240fps, or would 180fps be acceptable? If you're open to it, DLSS could really enhance your performance without needing the absolute latest GPU.
