Is Upgrading from a 5600X to a 5800X3D Worth It for 1440p Gaming?

I'm considering downsizing my PC and might switch my CPU too. Right now, I've got a 3080ti paired with a 1080p 144hz monitor using a 5600X processor, but I'm planning to get a new monitor soon. Is it worthwhile to upgrade to a 5800X3D for $300, especially for 1440p at 280hz? There's also the option of the 5700X3D for $225. Would love to hear your thoughts!

The deal on the 5700X3D for $225 isn’t bad at all. Honestly, $300 for the 5800X3D feels overpriced given how close they are in performance. The 5700X3D could be a smart choice for you!

Yeah, the 5700X3D seems like a solid option!

Honestly, for $300, I’d wait for AM6 to be released. That seems a bit steep for the 5800X3D.

Definitely feels like too much for it right now. Thanks!

Going for the 5800X3D was a game changer for me. I experienced huge improvements, especially with games that had issues with stuttering. If you're into FPS, it’s totally worth considering!

I think the extra cache might really help with the lows. I mostly play FPS too.

While the 5800X3D is technically an upgrade over the 5600X, I would recommend upgrading to an AM5 setup with DDR5 memory for better performance in the long run.

That is true, but upgrading the whole mobo, RAM, and CPU would be quite an investment.

Upgrading to either X3D chip will definitely improve your frame rates and overall gaming experience, but $300 for the 5800X3D is pushing it. I got my 5700X3D for just under $200 last year, and it was a great upgrade over my old 3800X.

I’ll keep an eye out for deals on the 5700X3D!
