I'm looking to upgrade my old i7-4790 system with a new GPU, but I want to make sure it pairs well with my current setup. I'm not buying a whole new rig for about a year due to other expenses, so I'm hoping a new graphics card can tide me over until then. My budget is around 200-300 euros, and I live in central Europe. Here are my current specs: Intel i7-4790 (non-K), Nvidia GTX 970, 16GB DDR3 RAM, 1TB SSD + 1TB HDD, and a 700W beQuiet PSU. I've found some options like the GTX 1080 Ti, 1660 Super, and 2060 from Nvidia, and the 5600, 5700 XT, or 6600 XT from AMD. I read conflicting info about GPUs being compatible, especially since mine is the base version of the i7-4790. Any advice on what would work best?

You might want to steer clear of buying used GPUs new at this point, but if you can find a good deal on one, it's worth considering. All those GPUs are aging, so try to maximize what you can afford now. Maybe look into an RX 6600 XT or RTX 2060 if they're around your budget.

Thanks! I added that I’m looking for a used GPU. The RX 6600 XT and RTX 2060 still seem pricey here, but I'll keep them in mind.
