I built my own PC back in late 2020, and I've been facing a frustrating problem. It frequently freezes when I'm just sitting idle or doing light tasks, like browsing the web. However, it runs flawlessly while playing YouTube videos or gaming. The only way to get it back is by doing a hard reset. My specs include an AMD 5900x, an EVGA 3080 FTW3 (10GB), and 32GB of G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600 RAM. I've already tried a bunch of troubleshooting steps like updating all drivers, reseating the GPU and RAM, switching power plans, running benchmarks, and I've even cleaned the PC. The issue disappeared for a couple of months but has now returned. Nothing useful shows up in the event viewer. I'm at my wit's end!

You might want to try disconnecting all external devices from your PC—like printers, webcams, and external drives. Sometimes these can cause conflicts. If that doesn't help, booting into safe mode could give you more insight into the problem.
I had the same problem! I removed everything except my main monitor, mouse, and keyboard, but the issue persisted.
Have you checked your SSD's health? Sometimes these freezing issues can be related to SSD problems. Running CrystalDiskInfo could help identify any issues with the drive.
I ran it a while ago; everything was fine. I'll run it again just to make sure.

I’ll definitely try that. Right now, I only have my second monitor connected.
