I was transferring a lot of files (several dozen gigs of images) from my desktop to a friend's USB drive when my computer crashed. It got stuck on the login screen and wouldn't respond, so after waiting about 45 minutes, I had to restart it. Now, when I plug in the USB drive (E:), my PC detects it, but it won't let me access it and keeps saying, "Insert a disk into USB Drive (E:)." I really need to recover the important files on there, but I can't even format it because the system says it can't access the disk. I'm running Windows 11, and here are my specs: i5 12600K, 64 GB RAM, 7900XTX, MSI Z690A. Any advice on what I can do to fix this?

Have you tried using a different USB port or a different computer to see if the drive is recognized properly? Sometimes the issue can just be a faulty port. If that doesn’t work, you might want to consider getting a data recovery tool; they can sometimes help you recover files from corrupted drives.

I’ll try that! I just want to make sure I can at least get her pictures back. Thanks for the advice!
