Does anyone remember those classic Mafia RPG games from the early 2000s? I'm interested in creating a simple version that can be played on mobile devices. I don't have extensive development skills—just some basic web development knowledge and experience with self-hosting in the cloud. I recall trying to set up one of those games as a kid on a free hosting platform, but the amount of effort required made me back out. Now that I'm older, I'm ready to tackle this project! Where do I begin? What should I avoid? Is there an easier way to create such a game, possibly using AI?

Are you thinking of a text-based narrative game, or something more action-oriented in 2D or 3D? If it’s the latter, there are game development platforms that might suit your needs better.
