Is Linux a Good Choice for Gaming?

I'm transitioning from Windows 10 to a Linux distribution since I'm not comfortable upgrading to Windows 11 with the end of support for 10. My main concern is gaming, as Linux hasn't always been the best for that in the past. Has there been a change in how gaming software works on Linux? Also, what Linux version should I consider? I've thought about Linux Mint since I have some familiarity with it from college, but I'm uncertain about its gaming capabilities. I primarily use Battle.net and Steam for gaming.

I've been using CachyOS, and it's been great for gaming! I'm able to play WoW without any issues. If you're going for Steam, the Proton layer really helps with running Windows games. A mention of less common flavors like Garuda and Pop! OS has come up too, which handle Nvidia drivers out of the box—just something to consider!

CachyOS is definitely the hot pick right now. Just remember that Proton helps with Steam games, so you'll likely have a smooth experience on either of those distros!
