Looking for Options to Connect a 5 1/4 Blu-ray Drive to My New Case

I'm searching for adapters or external solutions for connecting a 5 1/4 Blu-ray drive to my new computer case, which unfortunately doesn't have any external drive bays. I really want to keep my Blu-ray burner because it holds a lot of nostalgia for me—I've had it since 2010 and even used it to create custom labels with Lightscribe. I've used it in every computer I've built, but now I need a way to make it work with my latest setup. If you have any suggestions or solutions, I'd really appreciate it!

I actually have a USB 5 1/4 housing specifically for my Blu-ray drive that works perfectly for ripping discs. There are also a few good options available on Amazon if you want something ready-made!

An external USB 3.0 optical drive enclosure could be a solid way to go! They usually run around $50, which is a decent investment to keep your drive functional.

You can also look into getting a micro SATA to USB3 adapter along with a micro SATA to regular SATA adapter. This combo should work! I've seen some options online that could help you out, just do your research to ensure they match your drive.

You might want to check out a USB3.0 to SATA Optical Adapter. I have one for my Blu-ray drive, and it worked great for backing up DVDs and Blu-rays. Just make sure it specifically mentions it’s for optical drives—regular USB to SATA adapters won’t do the trick!

There are definitely some enclosures available for external 5.25 drives, but be warned, they can be pricey. Some folks think it's better to just keep using the old case instead of shelling out for those! But if you’re willing to spend, there are solutions out there.
