Does Encrypting Folder Contents in Windows 11 Provide Adequate Protection?

I'm curious about the effectiveness of the built-in folder encryption feature in Windows 11. If I check the 'Encrypt contents to secure data' option in the folder properties, will that sufficiently protect my files from being read if I remove my SSD and install it in another machine? I'd prefer to avoid more complex solutions like VeraCrypt if possible.

It's good to be cautious about encrypting data! The built-in feature is not the best for complete security against physical access. It's designed for local protection, but if someone removes your SSD and installs it elsewhere, they might bypass that encryption depending on the setup.

Exactly, that's why full disk encryption is more reliable. For sensitive files, consider specific encryption tools or entire disk solutions like BitLocker.
