I recently bought an Apple Watch and I'm trying to connect it to my phone. However, when I reach the step to link it with my Apple ID, it keeps showing an old email account that I no longer use. Interestingly, I'm not logged into that account on my phone either. I attempted to reset the password through the phone number linked to that old ID, but instead, it's directing me to my current Apple ID, making it impossible to change the password. I spent over an hour on the phone with Apple support but we couldn't resolve the issue. It's really confusing why the watch is trying to connect to an old email when my phone isn't linked to it anymore.

I totally understand how frustrating that must be! If you just bought it from Walmart and it's linked to an old iCloud account of yours, you could try contacting them to see if they can help with a reset or something. Just make sure you have your receipt as proof of purchase!
It sounds like your Apple Watch is iCloud locked. If that email doesn't ring a bell, and you bought the watch from an authorized retailer, you might want to return it and get a replacement. If it's tied to an account you don't know, it could be flagged as stolen, and that activation lock will stop you from using it.
