I'm considering upgrading my CPU but I'm not super knowledgeable about PCs. I currently have a Ryzen 5 5500 paired with an RTX 3060, which works well enough for me. I'm heading to a Micro Center tomorrow and have a CPU in mind, but I want to make sure it's a good choice. I'm looking for something that works great with my 200Hz monitor but won't bottleneck my GPU. I don't have a budget in mind; I just want something solid. Any recommendations?

Both the 5700X3D and 5800X3D are solid picks and should fit your AM4 motherboard. Just remember to check if you need a new cooler!
Absolutely, those are top choices for your AM4 motherboard. If you go for either of those CPUs, I wouldn’t overcomplicate things with a motherboard upgrade just yet. It sounds like that could lead to more bottleneck issues. I have a 9800X3D and I use a Thermalright PS120SE air cooler, which works great for me. What cooler do you have now?
I still have the stock fan that came in the box. Should I look to upgrade that too? Out of the two CPUs you mentioned, which would you pick?
Your current setup is generally well-balanced, so I wouldn't rush into a CPU upgrade without considering what you need it for. What activities do you use your PC for, and what performance are you seeking?
I mostly do school work, watch movies, and game. For gaming, I’ve noticed my frame rates can drop to around 140 sometimes, which feels annoying.
What CPU are you thinking about? The Ryzen 5 5700X3D or 5800X3D could be great choices!
I was actually considering the Ryzen 5 7600X.
Just a heads up, those models have been out of stock a lot at Micro Center.

Are these CPU options among the best for AM4? Should I also think about getting a better cooling fan?
