Hey everyone! I just built my first PC in over a decade, and I'm running into some issues. Here's what I've put together: an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, a be quiet! cooler, an ASUS TUF Gaming B650E-PLUS WiFi motherboard, 32 GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR5 RAM, a Samsung 990 PRO 2 TB NVMe SSD, and an ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti for graphics, all packed in a Corsair 4000D case with plenty of cooling.
After some hiccups with the initial setup, like my SSD not showing up in the BIOS (which I fixed by swapping it), I finally got Windows installed. I was excited to dive into music production and gaming, but then I got the dreaded Red DRAM light after shutting down overnight.
I tried various fixes, like adjusting settings in the BIOS, disabling certain memory features, and even swapping out RAM sticks. I even RMA'd my motherboard only to face the same problem with the replacement! Now I'm wondering if the CPU might be the culprit. Has anyone experienced this before? I'm looking for any advice on troubleshooting so I can get my build stable, especially since I need it for music and light gaming!

I get that the GPU and CPU budget might seem off, but the real focus here should be on your boot issues. The Red DRAM light is annoying! Have you tried booting with just one stick of RAM in different slots? Sometimes it's just a matter of finding the right configuration. Also, don’t forget to check that everything is properly seated, including the CPU. It's easy to overlook those little things.
It sounds like you've done a lot of troubleshooting already! Just to clarify, have you waited long enough for memory training when you boot up? Sometimes those processes can take a while. Since you've replaced the board and RAM, it could be the CPU. Make sure the CPU cooler isn’t overtightened either; I've seen that cause similar issues. It's worth a check before you consider an RMA.
