Hey everyone! I recently upgraded from a Ryzen 2700X to a Ryzen 5800X after updating my motherboard's BIOS. Now, I'm looking for a new graphics card to pair with it. Currently, I'm using a GTX 1080, which has been decent—like, I can run Battlefield 6 at 45-60 FPS.
I'm wondering what graphics card would give me the best bang for my buck, helping me get at least another 3-4 years out of my setup. I also want something that I can carry over to a future rig. My monitor is a 1440p ultrawide with a 144Hz refresh rate. I don't expect to hit 144 FPS on most games but would love to manage around 120 FPS on older, well-optimized titles, and I'm okay with 60 FPS on more demanding games.
I've heard about options like the 5060 Ti 16GB, 5070, and 9070 XT, but I'm aiming to keep my budget under $600. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this and if there's a good reason to splurge a bit more for future-proofing!

If you’re looking to push 4K gaming, you could easily consider getting a 5090. With a decent 8-core processor, it will minimize bottlenecking, ensuring everything is GPU-bound.
I’d suggest waiting for the 5070 Super, which is rumored to come with 18 GB of VRAM. That would be a great option to keep you future-proofed, but it's likely still several months away.
If you’re gaming on a 1440p ultrawide, I’d lean towards the 5070 Ti. It’ll give you a solid performance boost, but if you’re fine with aiming for 60 FPS on intensive titles, the 5060 Ti 16GB could be all you need. That would still be a considerable upgrade from your GTX 1080. The question is whether you want a decent performance jump or a massive one. Just keep in mind, I wouldn’t recommend the 5070 for ultrawide gaming—it might struggle with that resolution due to VRAM limitations.
I just picked up the 5060 Ti 16GB since I was also inclined toward NVIDIA for some local AI projects. It's been great for me—I’m playing Cyberpunk at 120Hz upscaled to 4K with lower settings and 2x DLSS running smoothly. The cost difference wasn't justifiable for me between the 5070 and 5060 Ti. Plus, I've got an old 1080 Ti that I plan to use as a second GPU for additional tasks—it sounds like we’re in similar boats!
