Help! My New CPU Isn’t Booting Up—What Should I Do?

I'm an experienced PC builder, but I recently upgraded my setup and encountered some frustrating issues. I installed a new AMD Ryzen 5 9600x CPU along with an MSI B650 Gaming Plus WiFi motherboard and T-Force Delta RGB DDR5 RAM (16GB, 6000MHz). The initial installation went fairly well, except for a concerning crunch noise when seating the CPU. However, when I powered up the system, it didn't even show the BIOS screen, and the EZ Debug indicators lit up solid red for CPU and solid yellow for DRAM.

To troubleshoot, I tried booting it with a flash drive, thinking there might be a version mismatch between the components. Unfortunately, that didn't resolve the issue. I thought I might have damaged the CPU, so I got a replacement for both the CPU and motherboard, but I'm still getting the same warning lights and no BIOS screen. This time, there was no crunch during installation, so I'm unsure what's happening.

I also have a ZOTAC GAMING GEFORCE 3060 GPU and a Corsair RM 550x PSU installed. Has anyone faced similar problems? Should I be using the secondary CPU_PWR2 connector? Is my power supply enough, or am I missing something entirely? Would it be better to return these parts and reconsider building my own PCs?

Have you tried updating the BIOS? Sometimes compatibility issues arise with new CPUs on older BIOS versions. You might be able to do this by downloading the BIOS file onto a flash drive and using the flash BIOS button on your motherboard. Just make sure you’re getting the right version for your board!

I've tried that already! I downloaded the BIOS and used the flash button on the motherboard, but it didn’t seem to work. Am I missing a step or something?
