Help Needed: Can’t Install Windows 11 on My Laptop

Hey everyone, I really need some help here as I'm not very tech-savvy. I'm using an HP laptop with Windows 11. I recently dealt with a virus that wouldn't go away even after resetting my system. So, I decided to install Windows 11 on a USB using another computer so I could boot it on my laptop. However, when I get to the installation part, it's asking me to select where to install Windows 11 but only shows:

1. Disk 0 Partition 1: ESD-USB (which I believe is the USB drive)
2. Disk 0 Unallocated Space.

Neither option allows me to proceed, and I get an error saying, "This selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, the operating system can only be installed to GPT disks." I tried wiping Disk 0 to convert it to GPT, but that ended up deleting Windows 11. I'm lost here, so if anyone knows how to solve this, I'd really appreciate it! Feel free to ask if you need more details.

If you're encountering these issues, you might want to double-check the settings in your system's BIOS. Also, be cautious when changing anything in there, as it can lead to data loss. Always ensure that your data is backed up before making changes!

It sounds like your installation USB isn't set up correctly. Make sure you use the Microsoft Media Creation Tool on a different computer to create the USB boot disk properly. Select the version of Windows you want to install and point it to your USB. After that, boot your laptop from the USB and follow the wizard to install Windows. You should be able to select the disk during installation then! Good luck!

It seems like your laptop isn’t recognizing the drive properly for installation. You might need to add SATA or NVMe controller drivers to your USB drive.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give that a try and see if it helps.

Can you post a screenshot of the install location options? It might help others understand your issue better!

Also, check if the USB is properly formatted to FAT32. Sometimes, that can cause issues during the installation process.
