I have a fully built PC that's about 8 months old, currently using a 1TB Crucial P3 Plus SSD as my boot drive and only storage option. I'm considering adding a new SSD to meet my storage needs better. I recently learned that using a DRAM-less QLC SSD for my boot drive might not be the best choice. I'm looking at the Kioxia Exceria PLUS G3 for my additional SSD. Should I set this new SSD as my boot drive, or is it better to stick with my existing P3 Plus until it fails? Would your advice change if I opt for a high-end NVMe drive like the Kingston KC3000? Just to add, I'm mostly using my PC for gaming and streaming media, and my new drive would be primarily for storing games and movies for my Jellyfin server.

I recommend going for DRAM SSDs for your OS drives because they add an extra layer of performance. I’d swap the Kioxia in as your boot drive and keep the Crucial for secondary storage. The same applies if you decide to go with the Kingston—it should work great!

What do you mean by 'added layer'? Are you sure NVMe drives without DRAM use HMB?
