Best CPU and Motherboard Options for an RX 6600?

Hey everyone! I've been having some lag issues with my PC and decided it's time for an upgrade. I'm sticking with my RX 6600 GPU since it's still pretty solid. I mainly play games like Minecraft, Fortnite, and Valorant, and I'm looking to spend around 400 NZD (240 USD). I plan to use DDR4 RAM unless someone has a good recommendation for DDR5 around 90 NZD (55 USD). Currently, I have an Intel i7 4790 and a Optiplex 9020 motherboard, along with 16GB of DDR3 Ripjaw RAM, which I'll need to replace since I want at least DDR4. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It sounds like you have a decent start with your RX 6600, but to avoid bottlenecking, you'll need a new CPU. Given your budget, I would recommend pairing a Ryzen 5600 with a B550 motherboard. It's a great combo! Just make sure to get RAM that's at least 3200MHz to optimize performance. You might need to check second-hand markets since new parts can be pricier over there.

That setup should definitely improve your gaming experience. Also, keep an eye on local listings; sometimes you can find great deals!

Honestly, getting something like the Intel i5-12400F with a B660 motherboard could work well too, but both options might be a bit over budget if you go new. Sometimes it's cheaper to find whole systems, grab what you want, and sell the leftovers. Just a thought!

That’s actually a solid strategy! You'll likely find some great deals on old builds that still have decent parts.

If you’re looking for budget options, it might be worthwhile to check out places like TradeMe for used parts. Prices can be brutal for new gear, so sometimes hunting for deals can save you a lot. You never know what you might find in your area!

True! I've scored some great components that way. It's hit or miss, but worth a shot for sure.
