I'm considering using Linux Mint Xfce on an older computer with a single-core AMD V120 processor and 4GB of DDR3 RAM. Is this configuration okay, or should I look into lighter alternatives?

If you're aiming for better performance, consider using lighter desktop environments like LXQt or LXDE. Also, going for a minimal window manager could give you a smoother experience. I’ve had success with setups using Artix or Openbox on hardware similar to yours.

Honestly, I don’t think a single-core system will handle modern Linux well. Anything beyond Windows 2000 really demands more power these days.

While you might get Linux Mint Xfce working, it’s likely to be sluggish due to the single-core setup. Multitasking will be tough since most modern apps are not optimized for such old hardware. You might want to consider lighter options like Bodhi Linux or Puppy Linux instead.

Definitely look into other lightweight distros like Lubuntu or MX Linux with the Fluxbox window manager. This might help mitigate some performance issues. Also, if possible, think about installing an SSD to boost loading times.
