Is the T-Force Expert 6400MHz RAM compatible with my 9950X3D CPU?

I'm considering getting the T-Force Expert 96GB (2x48GB) RAM running at 6400MHz with my 9950X3D processor on an X870/X870E Tomahawk motherboard. Unfortunately, finding the 6000MHz CL30 RAM has been difficult for me. I've read that 6000MHz is the ideal performance sweet spot for this CPU, but I'm concerned about potential issues with using the 6400MHz RAM. If I downclock it to 6000MHz, will it still perform reliably, or might it not be stable? Given the large L3 cache, would it be better to just use the 6400MHz sticks directly? I'd really appreciate any insights!

Getting 6400MHz RAM to run perfectly at 1:1 ratio will require some luck with your memory controller, as not all 9950X3D processors can handle it. If you face any stability issues at that speed, downgrading to 6200MHz is a viable option that should work without issues and won’t show much difference in real-world performance. Just a tip, the new ratios like 3:3:2 for MCLK:UCLK:FCLK are important to keep in mind for the best setup. In gaming, the large L3 cache can really help offset any minor performance impact from RAM speed, so if you find a good deal on 6400 CL32, it’s worth trying out!

Thanks for the info! I’m mainly focusing on 3D modeling and rendering. If I just plug in the 6400MHz RAM, will it default to 5600MHz? I assume the CAS latency won’t remain the same either?
