Which GPU Should I Choose: 9060 XT, 4070, or 3080 Ti for 1440p Gaming?

I'm looking to upgrade my GPU and need some advice on which option to choose. I currently have a Ryzen 5 7600X and I primarily game at 1440p. I've heard good things about DLSS 4 and FSR 4, but I've also heard that the 3080 Ti is still a powerhouse in performance with its standard DLSS support. I've found a brand new 16GB 9060 XT for $350 (or $320 with tax) at Micro Center. Locally, there are also used 12GB 3080 Ti's priced between $320 and $380, and used 12GB 4070's at a similar price range. Am I overthinking this decision?

If I were you, I'd go for the 4070. It's a newer card and needs less power than the 3080 Ti, even though the 3080 is still the top performer here.

I'd lean towards the 4070. Yes, it's a bit slower than the 3080 Ti, but it's much more efficient, and it'll likely retain its resale value better, even if it's not by a lot.

If you're seeing a 4070 for $320, you should grab that without hesitation! The 3080 Ti has great performance in raw raster graphics, but when ray tracing comes into play, it struggles. The Ada and Blackwell GPUs are much better there.

Honestly, you're making it more complicated than it needs to be. The 3080 Ti is a really strong card, especially for pure gaming performance—it's a beast until you start looking at something like the 5070 Ti or 5080, which are way more expensive.

But isn't the 4070 probably the better choice here?

If maximum gaming FPS is your priority at 1440p, the RTX 3080 Ti does lead, especially at that price range you found. However, the 4070 is more efficient and supports DLSS 4, making it a smarter long-term choice. The RX 9060 XT is also solid value-wise and performs well in newer games optimized for RDNA 4.

To sum it up: if you want pure performance for FPS, the 3080 Ti is your pick. If you're leaning towards features and efficiency, go with the 4070. For the best value and future-proofing, consider the 9060 XT.
