Tips for Buying a Used PC

I'm planning to buy a used PC tomorrow featuring a Ryzen 5 5600 processor, an RTX 1060 graphics card (with plans to upgrade to a 3060 Ti next month), and 16 GB of RAM. As someone who's not very tech-savvy, I want to know how I can benchmark the PC to ensure everything is in working order. Would playing a game be a good option? I'm considering a Minecraft demo, but I'm unsure if it will really push the GPU to its potential. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Running a quick benchmark with free online tools can definitely help test the CPU and GPU. Also, consider using CrystalDiskInfo to check the health of the drives. If you're buying the motherboard, CPU, RAM, and GPU, make sure to know what else comes with it. Some games like "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" offer benchmarking options too, but that does require installation.

Before worrying about benchmarks, make sure you know the price of the PC. You mentioned you're getting the Ryzen 5 5600—just know that it will perform like any other 5600 you can find online. Testing the PC on-site isn't as crucial if you already know what you want.

Honestly, I'd suggest asking the seller to load up a game and let you play for a bit. It's a quick way to see if everything is functioning. Also, check the Task Manager to confirm all the components are present. If this was a pricier system, I'd recommend deeper testing, but for basic functionality, this should suffice.

Try using a benchmarking program called Heaven; it's ideal for testing an RTX 1060. It assesses a GPU's ability to render various aspects like detail and textures. You'll get info like average FPS throughout the test, which helps verify the GPU's performance and cooling. Just watch out for any artifacting, which could signal issues.
