Hi there! I have eight old iPhones and two iPads that I'm looking to clear out. Here's what I have:
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 5c
- iPhone SE
- iPhone 6
- iPhone 8
- iPhone 11
- iPhone 13
- iPhone 13 Pro
- iPad mini A1432
- iPad A1458
I'm wondering whether it's worth trading any of these in at the Apple store, or if they should just be recycled instead. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

For trading in, stick with the newer models like the 11, 13, and 13 Pro. The older ones might not be accepted by most trade-in programs, but if they're still working, they could be sold directly. Check online marketplaces—they can be a great way to get rid of them while ensuring they're used instead of thrown away.
You should definitely look into selling or trading the iPhones 11, 13, and 13 Pro since they still hold decent value. For the older ones, they're probably better off being used as emergency backups rather than traded in. As for the iPads, consider selling them online instead of trading in; they might not fetch much, but it's better than recycling them if someone can still use them.
For the iPhone 11 and the iPhone 13/13 Pro, you could definitely consider trading them in since they can run the latest iOS updates. The iPads, however, might not be worth much; they're older models that can't upgrade past older iOS versions. If your iPads can run iOS 18, you might find someone interested, but generally, they're on the lower end of resale value.
Recycling isn't always the best route, especially for functional devices! I sold an iPad 3 for around £9 and an iPad Mini for £6. You can try putting them up on auction sites for a starting price of just $1. It's a way better option than just recycling, as a lot of times those devices end up incinerated.
