Upgrading from Ryzen 3600 to 5700X3D: Worth It for My Setup?

I'm using a Ryzen 5 3600 with my B570 motherboard, and honestly, the performance hasn't impressed me much. I found a Ryzen 7 5700X3D for $200 nearby and I'm wondering if upgrading would really improve my gaming experience. One thing to consider is that I have a micro-ATX case, so I'm a bit limited in terms of thermal performance. I also have a Thermalright AXP120-X67 cooler on the way.

Honestly, I'd suggest considering a graphics card upgrade rather than just the CPU. Your current GPU might not fully leverage an upgraded CPU's potential, but if you think about upgrading your GPU later, the 5700X3D deal could be worthwhile to future-proof your setup.

Yeah, I have been thinking about the compatibility with the Arc cards and any overhead issues.

Are you hitting close to 100% usage on both your CPU and GPU while gaming? If you are, that might indicate a bottleneck where your CPU is holding back your GPU's performance.

Yeah, I'm pretty much topping out on both.

Anything from the 5000 series will give you a noticeable performance upgrade. My jump from the 3600 to 5800X was a game-changer—about a 50% improvement in multicore tasks! The X3D might not have the highest clock speeds compared to its non-X3D counterparts, but the increased cache really helps in gaming.

Upgrading to the 5700X3D could help a lot, especially if your performance issues are due to a CPU bottleneck. Depending on the games you play and your settings, you could see a significant boost. Just keep in mind that $200 is a decent price, but buying used electronics can be risky since there's no guarantee it works properly.

With the B570 setup you have, the CPU upgrade may not have a huge impact on performance. If you're stuck with a lower-end GPU, you might not notice much difference from the CPU upgrade alone. But hey, if you plan on upgrading the GPU in the future, getting the 5700X3D now could be a good move to keep on the AM4 socket longer.
