Should I Upgrade My RAM or Get a New GPU?

I'm currently using a 1660 Super graphics card along with 16GB of RAM (2x8GB at 2400MHz). I found a deal on 16GB of faster RAM (2x8GB at 2666MHz) for €50, but I'm wondering if I should just upgrade to 32GB of RAM or if it's more worthwhile to invest directly in a new GPU instead. Any advice?

Upgrading your RAM definitely won't increase your GPU's VRAM, which is different. If your GPU is struggling, it might be better to save for a new one. Just keep an eye on how much RAM you're actually using while gaming. If you're always maxing it out, then more RAM could help, but if you're really having issues with the GPU itself, a new one would be the way to go. Go for a better GPU when you can!

Thanks for the clarity! I guess I need to prioritize saving for the GPU then.

I wouldn't go for that RAM upgrade if you're not using all the available 16GB currently. Really assess if it's the RAM that's holding you back or just the GPU. If your current RAM usage is high while gaming, a RAM upgrade might help, but if your GPU is at 99% usage, it sounds like it wants an upgrade instead!

Speed also matters! If you're considering RAM, aim for at least 3200MHz instead of 2666MHz. Your current 2400MHz RAM might not work well with the faster one if you mix them. Check local prices, too; you might find good deals on 3200MHz RAM. But if you’re facing performance issues, prioritize a GPU upgrade.

Got it! I appreciate the suggestion. I'll look into that faster RAM.
