Should I Upgrade My FortiGate to 7.6.x Now, or Stick with 7.2.x?

Hey everyone! I'm currently using FortiOS 7.2.12 and I've been looking over the 7.6.4 release notes. It looks like they're phasing out SSL-VPN tunnel mode in favor of IPsec, which has me wondering about my Azure to FortiGate VPN setup. I'm torn: should I upgrade to version 7.6.x now or stay on 7.2.x for the time being? Also, should I set up SSL-VPN now or just go with IPsec right from the beginning? Any insights or experiences you can share would be awesome!

Just a heads-up, SSL VPN is mainly for user remote access and isn't really the best choice for Azure to Fortinet connections. You should definitely consider using IPsec for that. If you're also thinking about remote user access, I'd recommend starting with IPsec from the get-go, especially if you can implement SAML for logins—it's a great enhancement with MFA! Also, there's been a trend toward using ZTNA tech instead of traditional VPNs, so keep that in mind!

Oh, definitely! I think they're making some good moves with the push for IPsec, especially given the security advantages.
