I recently reset my PC in preparation for selling it, and I created a local account just to verify that all my files were deleted. Once I confirmed everything was gone, I attempted to delete the local account using the command 'netplwiz' through the run dialog (Windows + R), but that didn't work. After restarting my computer, I was surprised to find out there was a password set on my 'User' local account, which I never created. I've tried using the shift + restart method to access advanced options, but resetting the PC isn't an option for me. Now I'm stuck with two setup options. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you're planning to sell your PC, the best approach is to perform a secure wipe, then do a fresh install of Windows. You can shut it down just after selecting your region and language during the setup process, so the new owner can complete that like it’s a brand-new computer. Just be aware that a simple reset might not actually remove all of your data, so it’s better to clean install.

I wiped the PC already, but now I can’t log in to wipe it again since that shift + r option isn’t working for me.
