My M.2 Drive is Acting Up—Is It Failing or Something Else?

I've been using a Samsung 990 Pro 2TB M.2 drive as my C drive for about a year and a half, but lately, it's been causing problems. It started when I was updating Apex (around 10GB), and my system froze for a few seconds before completely shutting down and not recognizing the drive on restart. Reconnecting the drive helped, but when I tried updating the game again, the same thing happened, and I ended up in BIOS. According to Hard Disk Sentinel, the drive's health looks good (94%) and no errors were found in a scan. The drive is also less than 80% full. Should I just replace it, or might there be another issue at play?

Have you checked if the firmware is updated? Some early 990 Pros had firmware issues that could cause problems like this. You can use Samsung Magician to see if there's an update available.

I didn't update the firmware since I installed it. I'll definitely check that out.
