My PC Keeps Restarting After Gaming – What Could Be Wrong?

I've been having a frustrating issue with my PC for about a month now. It keeps rebooting automatically, usually after I finish a game, and sometimes even while I'm still playing. I can't seem to get a proper restart; I have to power it off and turn it back on manually. I've checked the event viewer, but there's nothing showing up that helps. I initially thought it was a RAM issue, so I bought new RAM, but the problem persists.

Interestingly, everything works fine if I'm just sitting idle or doing light tasks. My suspicion right now is that it might be a power supply issue, but I'm not entirely sure. Here are a couple of things I've noticed:
1. When gaming, the case fan sometimes makes a bearing coil-like noise.
2. At 100% load, my GPU hits about 70°C, while my CPU stays around 45-50°C.

I've also updated my BIOS, Windows, and all drivers.

My setup:
- CPU: Intel i5-10400F
- GPU: GTX 1650 Super
- PSU: Corsair RM650
- RAM: 16GB (2x8GB Kingston)
- Motherboard: B560M Mortar

Since the build is from 2021, I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction for troubleshooting this rebooting issue. Is it definitely the PSU, or could there be something else at fault?

From what you're describing, it sounds like your power supply could be the culprit. The Corsair RM650 is generally a good unit, but if it’s failing, it could lead to these random restarts, especially under load when gaming. It's worth testing it with another PSU if you have one available or at least using a PSU tester to check its functionality.

Have you checked if everything is properly connected, especially the cables from the PSU to the GPU? Sometimes, loose connections can cause random restarts. Also, looking into the cooling situation might help. Make sure your fans are functioning correctly and aren’t obstructed.

I had a similar issue, and it turned out that disabling the fast startup feature on Windows fixed it for me. It might be worth a try even though your rebooting happens after gaming. Just keep in mind that every system is different, so it may not solve your issue, but it’s easy to do — just check your power settings.
