Hey everyone, I'm looking for some input on tech time tracking tools. We're an MSP and currently using ConnectWise for our PSA, but the built-in time tracking is such a hassle. It's clunky and demoralizing for my team, plus they often forget to log hours, which leads to messy client billing and lost revenue. I want to switch to a simpler, dedicated time tracker that's user-friendly for technicians and provides clean reports without excessive clicks. I've heard about alternatives like Monitask or Harvest, but I'd love to hear what other MSPs are using. Are you sticking with the built-in tools or have you found something better that doesn't drive everyone crazy?

Have you checked out Nilear MyTickets? It's a slick add-on for ConnectWise that enhances usability and really modernizes the whole experience while still utilizing ConnectWise's backend. It could save you a lot of time during migration if you decide to switch platforms entirely, but it does provide valuable features that could keep your team happy without losing data. Worth a look!
Absolutely! I had a decent experience with it too. It changes the whole dynamic of using ConnectWise.
I totally empathize with your struggles! Back in my MSP days, we relied on a simple web-based tracker. It didn't require too much manual input, just a quick daily entry, which kept things manageable. Some people thrive with different approaches though. Maybe a hybrid model could work—track certain things with a tool while manually logging others like client meetings or long tasks that aren't directly billable. Keeping morale high is key, especially when you're billing hours, so consider flat-rate billing as well. Clients and techs love it!
It's a real stress trying to meet those billable hours! I used to spend ages just balancing my time entries, and it felt like a never-ending uphill battle.
Totally agree on the flat-rate idea! It can simplify things immensely and keep everyone more relaxed.
Honestly, I found a lot of people moved away from time tracking altogether for the sake of morale. If the techs aren't on a billable time requirement, why not just let them work without monitoring every minute? Some companies have moved towards project-based billing instead, which could simplify things significantly. You might find it helps boost morale and encourages more teamwork and efficiency!
I completely agree! Continuous minute-tracking is draining. Focusing more on the output rather than the hours seems to be the way to go.

Nilear definitely is the way to go! It really helps focus on fewer tickets at once and makes logging much easier.
