Hey everyone! I'm looking to give my 7-year-old PC a refresh and could use your advice. Here's what I currently have:
- Motherboard: B450 AORUS M
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X (8 cores)
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080
- RAM: 16 GB
- SSD: 512 GB for Windows
- HDD: 2 TB for storage
Overall, it's still decent for gaming and general usage, but it's getting slower to boot, and I'd love to enhance its overall performance. I'm not sure where to start, but I want to keep a solid foundation for the next few years without doing a complete overhaul at once. Thanks in advance for your help!

It's hard to give specific advice without knowing your budget and power supply, but upgrading your GPU to something like a used 3080 can make a huge difference. Just recently, I upgraded my GPU and saw significant performance gains!
If boot speed is your main concern, upgrading your SSD to an NVMe could help a lot. But if you're looking for overall performance improvements for gaming, aim for a Ryzen 7 5700X and consider bumping your RAM up to 32 GB. That's what I did, and it really helped!
Sounds like a solid plan! How much did you spend on your upgrades?
I'd recommend considering a full system upgrade, especially if you're looking to spend under $1000. Look at getting an AMD 9060 XT GPU for a great 1440P gaming experience, along with a motherboard and RAM upgrade. But you could reuse your current components to save some cash!
If you're experiencing longer boot times, especially with Windows 11, that's pretty common. For upgrades, it might be best to consider a new system entirely depending on your budget. But if that's not feasible, upgrading your GPU could really boost gaming performance, and don't forget to check if your power supply can handle it!

Thanks for the tip! I was thinking a GPU upgrade might be a good start. What would you recommend for my current setup?
