I have a Dell Inspiron 15 (3542), and I'm facing a frustrating issue. Whenever I gently adjust the screen, the laptop suddenly powers off. This has been a persistent problem for about a year now, and I'm really careful with it, but the hinge seems to have become overly sensitive. Even minor movements make it shut down. I remember someone mentioning that unscrewing some screws near the hinges helped a bit, but it hasn't resolved the issue lately. Any advice on what could be causing this and how to fix it would be appreciated!

It sounds like a tricky issue! Without taking a look physically, it’s tough to diagnose for sure. It might be that your hinges are interfering with something else inside, but that’s not super common. Another possibility could be a cracked motherboard causing the display connections to wiggle when you adjust the screen. Definitely something to consider!

That makes sense. I’ve noticed that my laptop shuts down when I press around the F1 and Esc keys, which hadn't happened before. It seems like the sensitivity has increased. Do you think it's worth it to open it up and check for loose connections?
