A friend of mine is putting together a new PC with a 9800x3d processor and a 5070ti graphics card. He's using the NZXT H9 Flow case, which includes four fans: three on the side as intakes and one at the back for exhaust. He didn't buy any additional fans and is relying on an air cooler. I suggested that he should add a couple of bottom intake fans and one exhaust fan at the top for better airflow, but he believes the stock configuration will work fine. What do you think? Is the stock fan setup adequate?

Honestly, with those components, the stock setup isn't going to cut it. I mean, a fish tank case with a 9800x3d and a 5070ti running only one exhaust fan? That's just asking for thermal throttling, especially under load. He definitely needs to consider adding more fans for better airflow.
I actually think the stock configuration can work. In many cases, those bottom fans don't really add much to the cooling efficiency—they just look nice. The top fans tend to push out air before it can even get to the CPU cooler, which might not have a huge impact. But for top-tier performance, he may want to rethink that cooler.
