My Laptop Won’t Boot After a Crash—Any Fixes?

I've got an HP Omen 16-b0950nz with an RTX 3070, and it recently crashed with an 'Unexpected Store Exception (0x154)'. Now it won't boot at all. The keyboard lights up and the fans are running, but there's usually no display. Occasionally I get a secure boot violation error, and sometimes I can access the HP PC Hardware Diagnostic UEFI. I haven't been able to test everything there; however, when I checked the hard drives, it indicated no hard drives were found. I also tried booting with a Linux USB stick, but that didn't help either. I even drained the battery completely, but nothing changed. I'm looking for suggestions on what else I could try before I open it up and take a look inside.

If neither HP diagnostics nor the Linux USB recognized the internal drive, it's likely that the drive has failed. I suggest removing the drive and connecting it to a working computer using a USB adapter. If it’s recognized that way, there might be a connector or ribbon issue from the motherboard to the drive that could be replaced. If not, it’s probably time to get a new drive.

That's a good point about the drive failing! But if that's the case, you should still be able to access the boot menu, right? Have you tried reset options or checking if the BIOS recognizes the drive at all?
