I'm having trouble with my new PC build, and it won't turn on for the first time. I've tried a lot of troubleshooting steps, but nothing seems to work. Here are the specs:
- GPU: XFX Speedster SWFT210 Radeon RX 7600
- Storage: Timetec DDR4 3200MHz PC4-25600
- RAM: DDR4 3200MHz 16GB
- Case: Dragonfly II Mesh GM740
- Motherboard: A-520M Pro
- CPU: Ryzen 5 5500 with a cooler
- Power Supply: A550BN 550W, 80 Plus Bronze
I've connected everything necessary, including USB buttons and mic jacks, except for the PC fans because I need a 4-pin PWM female to female adapter. I tested the power supply with the paper clip method, and that seemed to work, but my PC doesn't power up at all—no fan movement or motherboard lights. The PSU is making a strange sound that's hard to describe, almost like a baby sucking on a pacifier but at a higher pitch. It's not loud, just noticeable if you're close. I'm really hoping to get some help without having to replace potentially good parts!

You got a bad power supply. Make sure the one you buy is fully modular. I dont know your budget but $80 gets u a nice 850W fully modular.
It sounds like your power supply might be the problem, especially if it's making weird noises. Just because it worked during the paper clip test doesn't mean it’s supplying the correct voltages now. I wouldn't risk turning it on again since that could damage other components.

Should I just get a new power supply? If so, any recommendations?
