Computer Won’t Turn On After a Bump – Any Ideas?

I ran into a problem where my mom accidentally bumped into my computer while cleaning, and it shut off instantly. Now, when I try to turn it back on, it gets stuck in a loop where it starts up, makes a weird clicking sound, and then shuts down again. It just keeps repeating this cycle. I'm not sure what's going on, but any help would be appreciated!

It sounds like the power supply might be the issue. If it shut down immediately after the bump, there’s a chance something got damaged in that moment. Have you checked if the power supply is working properly?

I’m not sure if it’s the power supply itself since it seemed to just happen after the bump, but I guess it could be possible.

Try unplugging the power cable for a few minutes and then plugging it back in. It’s worked for me in similar situations when my PC wouldn’t turn on right after something happened.

Could be an issue with overheating too, especially if a fan is loose or not working right. If you decide to take a look, just make sure to turn the power off before doing anything. Check that the RAM sticks are placed correctly and the fans are secure.

It might be worth checking inside the case. Sometimes, components like RAM can become loose. Open it up and make sure everything is seated correctly. If you’re not comfortable with that, consider taking it to a repair shop to avoid further issues.
